Is one to solely act on necessity?
Against their own wants?
Against their own heart?
I thought this would make things better - my being definitive, that is.
But I'm not certain it does.
Here I remain in some sort of emotional purgatory...
I suppose some sort of purgatory, in general.

The sky is blue. The grass is green. At first glance such holds truth. On the contrary, the sky is like the veils which a thousand Madonnas have let fall from their hair; and the grass fleets and darkens like a flight of girls fleeing the embraces of hairy satyrs from enchanted woods. I love you. It will never near the full truth.

I am completely content. Life is good. I graduated on the 27th, I have a wonderful boyfriend, a great job interning for Mayor Villaraigosa, a trip with my girls to look forward to on the 19th, and college in the fall!

"You ain't fresh as I'm is!"
I am currently rocking it with the Lebanese in Lebanon, Indiana. Yesterday my grandma taught me how to play the accordion (on my "to-do before I die" list). We can say I'm well on my way to mastering the classic "Mary Had A Little Lamb." In all honesty, I'd even go as far as to say I'm mastering the accordion itself.

Harness the funk in large quantity, dear friends.
Happy Holidays!

BEN GIBBARD IS GOD.

Friday night was the absolutely beauteous Death Cab for Cutie show. Their lyrical mastery and hearty tunes just made me jump up from my seat and DANCE. "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" - oh, that final chord... there might've been some slight tearing going on. Once the show had come to a close, I waited behind the Wiltern to inform Ben Gibbard that, if need be, I would be honored to host his offspring. Very sadly, Ben must've forgotten we were supposed to discuss matters, but I was exhilerated to see the rest of the band and to speak with Jason (the drummer).

Saturday were Blindside and Trapt. The Avalon is an awesome venue first of all, and second I was 7 feet from the stage, from the sweat dripping off Christian Lindskog. As I proceeded to walk to the back after Blindside's set, there they were... all of Blindside just standing in the back of the Avalon. Naturally, I walked over to them and they were so very gracious and signed my shirt, some of them even with silver permanent marker (I know I shouldn't but I'm wearing it as we speak).

Today was an exciting Sunday - visited the new giant Target aka heaven with Ashley and Maria.
Leaving for Kairos on Tuesday.

Shake it off.
Dear LiveJournal Land,

"Don't be so morbid," Jordan said. "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall."

My sisters are away at Kairos, and for once in a long while, I am free of commitment of all sorts - I feel really just odd, and a bit guilty that so much free time (seemingly) has found its way to me in the midst of quite a bit. I am hardly complaining however, because of course, this free time will surely find its use as it always seems to. In lieu of school, the rest of the week will consist of soup kitchens and eye exams in downtown L.A.

Senior year is fabulous & life is Grade A.

The End.

Hello.

I just signed into Myspace, actually I was commenting on a friend's page, and am now currently viewing, "Hello, Johnathan!" a 19 year old with extra baggage from Forest City, Kansas. I am a bit confused as to how I signed into Johnathan's account... Perhaps Johnathan from Kansas has an email adress including Greek or Princess and I magically deciphered his password without realizing? Hmmm...

In other news my cousins are visiting from Indiana. I'm really enjoying their company and am looking forward to spending some time with them in their neck of the woods this coming Christmas. Tomorrow brings two full days of Disneyland for Chris's birthday, which will be a nice break from my busy schedule.
Besides work, piano, cross country, and drawing, I landed a new job this summer working on childrens books for a lady who works at UCLA. My first work is due this weekend and I'm really excited. Things have been a bit hectic, but I'm doing the things I love... This weekend also brings about Leadership Camp (already!)and of course, I'm excited for it as well.

Hope everyone is well! See most of you in 2 weeks to the day!

I'm a little disturbed at the moment, but other than that I am thoroughly enjoying summer.
my dear eleni, why are you disturbed?
Caitlin just wrote that. We're in La Jolla and I can easily say, I have yet to have this much fun ever ever ever until this weekend, well except playing Scrabble and running red lights with the champion.

Today involved 75 degree ocean water, kayaking (my new favorite thing to do! I want to retire with my decrepit husband and spend the rest of our days on earth kayaking every morning/ swimming in the ocean with hot pink swim caps) to mysterious caves with five sea lions, along with the jelly fish you see on the discovery channel. They were quite large and a little kid kind of was stung by one right before a group of Santa Monica-birthed ruffians came and flipped my kayak with Caitlin and then stole our oars and left us in the ocean to be consumed by tentacles. Right now I'm about to go watch the red tide. Due to the phytoplankton/red tide after sunset the water is an electric blue. When the waves break the microscopic organisms create flashes of light intended to scare away predators. You would think there were neon turquoise lightes beneath the waves. I've never seen anything like it.

Love,
Bronco

A few nights ago I was standing in line at Cold Stone's and guess who stood in line in front of me. Ryan Cabrera! And after a few moments had passed, he decided he didn't wish to wait in line like the average citizen is required, so he decided to leave Cold Stone's, and then guess what he did. He turned around to leave, and while doing so he "bumped into me." And then guess what he said?! Woah, wait... Get this... He said, "Excuse me!" Wow. You can pretty much say Ryan Cabrera and I had ice cream together now... technically, Ryan Cabrera and I hung out. So, Eleni, what have you been doing this summer? Well, you know, (insert name of person I'm "conversing" with here)just hanging out with Ryan Cabrera and stuff.

In other news, tonight is Florian Bruechmann's surprise going away party at my house which I have so properly entitled, the "auf Wiedersehen Flo!" Party. I've been getting everything ready this morning, and hopefully by tonight, my beautiful German flag... my beautiful American flag will grace the entry of my house enclosed in a pink heart to show the love and the everlasting bond between friends and German alike, along with the picture display of famous Germas lining the walls such as Durer, Gutenberg, Steffi Graf (because Flo is obsessed with tennis), Einstein, Kepler, Tetzel, Hasselhoff, and Hitler (even though he's not technically German... oh well). For the meal, we will be serving hamburgers like Hamburg, Germany and because Flo orders hamburgers every single time we go out to eat. To complete the fine array of delicacies that make up our meal, a German chocolate cake will be served. Wow, this is going to be one party! All I have to say is, "Vundebar!"

Yep, that would be my lovely friend Ms. Caitlin Mouton accompanied by my sister, Kathryn Barefoot, who is pictured with camera covering a good portion of her face, and a frenzied Alison Koobie screaming much similar to what one would expect of a 12 year old girl at the subject of the photograph. I would be in this photo, however, an anoymous female standing behind Ms. Duff is blocking about 95% of my body.

In other news, this week has been a week of the highest degrees of excellence - too much Jenga, too much Scrabble, a whole lot of swimming, and fun, and a whole lot of loving... for instance, German exchange students named Flo... Gotta go!

Not much to say except that it's all good.

Last night Nicole and I left to go pick up a bouquet of flowers for a graduation and when we came home to pick up Kate she was singing and dancing to Kelly Clarkson in the living room. Apparently she saw a microphone which is sporadically hooked up to the keyboard there, and decided it needed some loving. If any of you know the layout of the living room there are large windows enabling quite the view both in and out of my house from the front yard. So, as we pulled up, not only was Kate working the... floor, but our mysterious male next door neighbor who I am assuming is my age, (but then again, he is mysterious...) was enjoying the show as well. Nicole and I laughed until we cried.

Couldn't ask for finals to have been better, and there's no other way to bring in the good summer like the best friends and some bbq. Off I go! Happy summer!

Butter It Up
Life is going my way right now. Things may not always be perfect, but who says that brings true happiness anyway? I had a great weekend and got to be with the people I love... The calendar has yet again marked itself red another 12 months and the Valley Greek Festival is right around the corner… and what do you know, summer is beckoning its flashing lights in a near horizon as well. Glorious.

Saturday after work the freeways were closed for God knows what reasons, and if you know me, you know I possess no common sense whatsoever in terms of directions. So, I end up in freeking Sylmar at freeking midnite, without money, without a charged cell phone, without shoes (well they were difficult to put back on), so then I decide to get off the freeway because, did I mention there was no gas in the car since I left City Walk? Ya, I figure it's probably better to get off than to have to pull off to the side of the road without money, cell phone, and day light...So then I scrounge up change (pockets and what not) to pay for gas that is $2.60 a gallon, and after some good thinking and even better luck, I arrived home with a few miles of gas to spare.

Yesterday morn my Papou came and picked Nicole, Kate, and me up for lunch at where else, but Baker's Square where the entire church dines a Sunday afternoon. It was so nice driving there, just watching him sing to his Waltz music - it reminded me of the days when we'd sit content with our orange plastic bowls in front of Wheel of Fortune, smelling the "most amazing home baked bread EVER," and just being utterly satisfied with my African American Baby Allgone on one side and Yiayia on the other. Later in the evening, I attended a Tea Party Bridal Shower where we dined on dainty tea sandwiches consisting of pink egg salad, otherwise known as “Christos Anesti Egg Salad.” Also, for any of you Greeks out there, you might find it humorous that I witnessed inebriated individuals (at least I hope they were) dancing Kalamatiano to “If I were a Rich Girl” compliments of Gwen Stefani (at a wedding...). Oh, what a sight. I also finished reading Grapes of Wrath sometime this weekend, and I would just like to make note that I absolutely loved the ending. Although one might be troubled by such inquiries as, "What the hell (was that)?" the final scene was truly a golden thread. The last inter-chapter was pure mastery of the written word, and while I make note of this, I am soley speaking in regards to the general idea the book gives, certainly not page for page reading.

Today was great, tomorrow hopefully will follow suit and so on and so forth. As of late, I feel like a new person. Maybe it’s this hardcore SoCal weather, maybe it’s my edamame beans choosing to taste like fetal piglet… it’s questionable, but I do know that my life-long theory that things will look up when you're least expecting it holds true... I’m okay and I’ll be okay, and I’m so okay with being okay that it’s, that i'm more than okay.

I just found these pictures from the first day out of school last year when we greeted the warm rays of the summer months with a Harry Potter love fest ala Fernando's Fantastic Food Friday style.(Note: the shirt in picture #2 reads: Harry Potters Baby's Mamma")

Indy's in bliss.
Hello Livejournal Land.

Once I picked up Kathryn from the establishment of employment, Adobe Road, we made a seemingly quick trip from City Walk to home - not quite 15 minutes. As we made way off the 118 exit onto Balboa, Kate mentioned, "Wow, that was a really fast trip." And that it was. Pulling into our driveway, Nicole curiously called my cell phone wondering where we were. I then replied, "In the driveway," when I heard noises coming from my room, and the balcony door...slamming. "Who the hell is up there?" was called. No response. I ran into the house where Nicole neatly sat on the couch Biology packets in hand...and that is when I knew. I knew right away not what, but who? I dropped my belongings, and sprinted up the stairs to find a dark hall and a closed door. My door is never closed. Coincidentally, this little mishap that occurred tonight marks the one year anniversary of the first mishap that took place. Oddly enough, the Dodgers were involved in both instances. A moment, and I entered my room to find a male sprawled atop my bed wearing whipped cream and chocolate, then others bursting from beneath the bed and from the bathroom. This time it was somewhat humorous being I actually knew the individuals involved, when alas, some 12 months past to this very day I sat by my lonesome, so very innocently, listening to "The Sound of Music" in an empty house, only to be greeted by a mysterious (not in a brooding, Byronic sort of way really) and thoroughly alarming intruder. This time around, I came home too early because I knew, I just knew... and a word of advice to those "familized," it is coming. IT (in capitals) is coming, so be wary. Ahhh, the twisted humor of today's youth...

In other news, I highly suggest you all take up Wendy's FREE frostys offer this weekend, well now, only Sunday because Friday and Saturday are dust in the wind. FREE FROSTYS as an attempt to coerce clientele into embracing the idea of "eating great even late" after the whole finger-in-chili fiasco. Every Wendy's and ya don't even need to purchase anything else.

Consider yourself updated.

So, pretty much the worst of Junior year is over. APs are over, dissections are partially over, track finals were yesterday, and now I'll be able to function like a normal human being... for the most part. You know, watch t.v., maybe sleep a little. Tomorrow i do, however, have to take SAT IIs in the morning which really aren't a big deal and shouldn't be too long... A happy girl I am.

And here, really, is the closing of a chapter for a number of reasons... I keep telling myself things happen for a reason, and I'm beginning to believe it. Like a little sponge grasping to absorb everything being thrown at her - hopefully it won't be so impossible now.

Crista's back and I couldn't be happier. Easter was all right, not really the same without Nik and Kray... oh, and the roachless bread. I did though, enjoy seeing the excess consumption of lamb and then their effects on a particular individual who I'll call V.I. for privacy issues, when she had to be moved nearest the bathroom during the English AP. Haha, especially the part where V.I. had to announce her issues to the entire room.

Everything looks and smells like foot-long fetal pig carcass to me. Even lunch today. I really couldn't eat. Not so bad... Hey wow, I can read now too, not that a book entitled The Strange Career of Jim Crow is going to be of much use to me at this point in time...

V: "Hey guys! It's pregnant!"
E: "We're dissecting a fetal pig..."

Snaps for life!
